Preston Dibble was appointed Organist and Director of Music at Church of the Immaculate Conception, Montclair, NJ, in September of 2005. He conducts the Chancel Choir and a graded Children’s Choir program including a handbell ensemble and classes in recorder playing as well as managing the parish’s concert series “Music at Immaculate.” In February of 2011, members of the Chancel Choir of Church of the Immaculate Conception toured Italy and presented concerts throughout the city of Rome, singing in the presence of the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. Additionally in August of 2013 the Chancel Choir toured Ireland; offering music for Masses and a concert at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin.
A native of Northwestern Pennsylvania, Preston is a 2001 graduate of Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA and a 2004 graduate of Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA. At Westminster, Preston earned a Bachelor of Music degree majoring in Music Education with a primary performance area of organ, studying with Dr. John Walker, Mr. Raymond Ocock and Dr. Elizabeth Harrison. At Duquesne, Preston earned the Master of Music degree majoring in Sacred Music and organ, studying with Dr. John Walker. While in the Pittsburgh area, Preston served as Director of Music and Liturgy at St. Ferdinand Parish; a suburban parish of over 10,000 members.
Preston’s previous recital appearances include Heinz Memorial Chapel, University of Pittsburgh, PA, Shadyside Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, PA, on the famed von Beckerath organ of St. Paul Catholic Cathedral, Pittsburgh, PA and most recently at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, NJ. A member of the National Pastoral Musicians, Preston chairs the National Standing Committee for Organists where he serves on NPM's National Council. As a member of the American Guild of Organists, Preston serves District Convener for NJ and Chair of the National Committee for Marketing; former Dean of the Metropolitan NJ Chapter and Program Chair of the Region I/II Convention of the AGO held in Morristown, NJ, July 2011.
In September of 2013 Preston was appointed, concurrently, Diocesan Director of Music for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson, NJ. Responsibilities includes conducting the Diocesan Choir, planning and performing music at all Episcopal Liturgies and serving as a resource for the priests and musicians within the Diocese of Paterson.
